Single Action Scraper
The advantage of a broad knife scraping mechanism is it is simpler in design and has less moving parts thereby offering less sealing problems and maintenance.
This is recommended where the cake is relatively free flowing and non sticky. This system is also offered with pneumatic residual heel removal system which again is effective on non sticky cakes.

Dual Action Scraper
This type of scraping device cuts only a small area at a time, thus delivering maximum thrust. The vertical or downward sweep of the knife ensures a cutting thrust which can handle hard and sticky cakes effortlessly.
The dual action scraper knife is serrated and edged on two axes to cut with minimal resistance during the entire scraping cycle. Its pneumatic residual heel removal system can be programmed to "blow off" the most sticky heels by configuring the duration and sequence of the air jet.

Auto Cycle Operation
In case of auto cycle operation by controlling the timer cycles the depth of cut can be regulated. Thus on cake hardness etc. the number of passes per cycle can be increased by which the depth per cut can be reduced to low thickness. This will save wear and tear on the scraper components. In case of pneumatically operated scraping system while cutting forces will be lower than in hydraulic systems it would not pose a problem for the free flowing crystalline cakes. However for hard cakes please contact us and our Application Engineer will visit your plant to study the same and make his recommendation.

Residual Heel Removal System
The residual heel or heel rest removal is done by means of flowing a jet of compressed air or nitrogen. Pressure required is generally 5-8 kgs/sq.cm depending on material characteristics. The entire air piping is through the scraper system itself. This ensures that no coiled pipes or fittings are exposed to the basket which would necessitate regular cleaning.

Anti-vibration Mounting System
The machine is mounted on custom designed spring - Visco dampers which are integrated perfectly with the machine. The machine is in fact designed the specific weight which counter balances the precompressed pressure of the damper. This harmony ensures that the dampers absorb even the smallest of unbalance forces and protect your structure from forces of resonance or vibrations. The machine can take upto 10 kgs. of unbalanced load at various speeds without exceeding vibration limits specified under ISO-2372-Class II. The dampers are selected and designed by one of the leading International firms in the field of anti-vibration mounting systems.

Sealing Arrangements
Bottom Discharge Centrifuge bearing Housing Caps are fitted with easily detachable cartridge type sealing.
The choice of seals available are :
1. Mechanical Seals :- These employ the conventional metal surface except that when a positive pressure is applied to the bearing housing a thin air cushion separates the two metallic surfaces. With these type of seals positive pressure of 1.5-2.0 kgs/sq. cm can easily be maintained through-out the duration of operation of the centrifuge for better seal life.
2. Teflon Seals : Simple dual Teflon seals with rubber backing which give the teflon element better elasticity to work as a flexible seal. The cartridges can be detached without removing the bearing housing caps thereby easing the maintenance procedure.
Attention to detail can be seen from the fact that the card is fitted on the lid rather than the body to minimize stickage of peroders, etc to the cord as well as the splash ring provided to prevent slurry or liquid splashing onto the ring surface.

Control Systems
Drive Panel : The drive panel which houses the a/c drive and the other electricals is fabricated from mild steel sheets and powder coated and finished to high standards.
With a IP-54 or equivalent enclosure the PLC, braking unit and all the relay contractors etc, are protected from the harsh environment of a chemical factory.
The drive panel is to be located in a non flame proof area.
Dynamic Braking : The centrifuge basket is braked or slowed down using an electrical braking system. The back EMF generated by the motor when idling is used to create the breaking impulse. This braking ensures a safe and friction free means of halting the rotating assembly.
Seperate heat sinks are given to ensure that the heat generated is dissipated effectively and the unit can be located even outdoors.
MMI : The Man Machine Interface or MMI panel or local control panel comes in two diffrent options.
The simple LCD 4 line display which can be used to programme the PLC and read the status of the operational cycle and the more advanced graphic interface which besides the text features icons which can be used to visually mirror or mimic the operational cycle.
The MMI's are generally of Siemens, Allen Bradley or equivalent make.
PLC : An entirely sequentially controlled cycle can be achieved by use of a PLC or programmable logic control. These can be based on impulses of linear signals or based on temporal (time based) sequences.
The PLC has adequate extra inputs and outputs which can be connected to the user's main plant and integrated with the centrifuge for full-fledged automation.
PLC's are of Siemens, Allen Bradley or equivalent make.
